Professionally

I work as a Humanistic Integrative counsellor. I am a member of the BACP and work to their strict Ethical Framework.

I provide a non-judgmental, supportive space. Together we can work at your own pace and on different strategies to ensure you gain a better sense of who you are and where you may want to be moving forward in your life.  Perhaps you would like to feel more empowered and resilient to ensure you make decisions which are best for you. I hope to provide the space and tools to enable that awareness and empowerment in you.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy

I have worked as a locum counsellor in University settings counselling students and volunteered for a low cost counselling service in Hastings. I have also volunteered for Afterthoughts Counselling Service  within the NHS East Sussex Healthcare Trust, working with bereaved parents and clients experiencing challenging births and  parenting difficulties in the Perinatal area of Counselling and have  worked as a volunteer counsellor for The Sara Lee Trust, within a local Hospice in Hastings and in Private practice in Bexhill and Seaford.

With gentle support and challenge you can begin to move forward in your life. As a Humanistic Integrative Therapist I work creatively with a number of different therapies including;

Qualified in these therapies, using a blend to create a way of working which is unique to you. We can work creatively too if you wish.  I am here to understand and empathise with your situation from your perspective, without judgments or advise.

About me

I remember my own thoughts and feelings surrounding taking the step to finding a counsellor.  I wanted to feel a connection and to fully trust my therapist.  I continued to grow whist attending counselling through my training.   I still cherish those initial sessions and would wish counselling could be available to all who would like to attend.

I am passionate about my job, and enjoy attending Continuous Personal Development training.  I feel so  privileged to work with clients as they take the courageous steps in their counselling process.

I am a sensitive and perceptive person, and use an appropriate balance between empathic support and challenge, depending on the needs of the person I am working with.  I enjoy connecting with, and supporting my clients in their own process of healing and change.   I count being able to help facilitate and witness this process as one of the major blessings of my life.

I understand first-hand many of the challenges of family and single life.  I enjoy living in the county of East Sussex, regularly walking family dogs and spending quality time with family and friends.

I work in an Integrative way using the Humanistic therapies available to me.   I  regard you as the expert of yourself.  I would be privileged to facilitator you on your journey of self-discovery.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my practice and the way I work.  If you have questions and would like to see if we can work together, please contact me for an initial chat and we can arrange a consultation. I look forward to speaking to you soon.

Best wishes

Melanie
